What I mean by Historic Baptist

"Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

Ephesian 3:21

The name Baptist comes from the first man appointed by God to baptise those who repented of their sin and called upon Christ Jesus for remission of sin. The Lord Jesus took the converts of John the Baptist and built His first church. Ever since that time there has been true churches of the Lord Jesus in keeping with His promise of the continued existence of the institution of His church. We use the name Baptist because it is Biblical and it names the ordinance of Baptism which is the evangelistic testimony of the churches of God. By Historic we are referring to the tremendous history of the Baptists extending back to Antioch and Jerusalem, where churches under various names, such as Ana-baptist, Cata-baptist, Paulicians, Donatists, Waldensians, Cathari, etc., were faithful to the Lord that bought them and held and practiced the faith once delivered unto the saints.
